Every September, North Texas Giving Day brings donors and nonprofits together by celebrating the work of these organizations and setting goals, prizes and providing resources to connect nonprofit organizations with the rest of the community. This past North Texas Giving Day, Ighty Support embraced the spirit and gave back to on a local and international scale.
The first organization is Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue (MMESAR). MMESAR is a local organization based in McKinney with the objective of providing coordinated care to animals in Collin County and the surrounding bordering areas. Our resident IT Technical Lead, Travis Hackney and partner, April Pettey, volunteer and work closely with MMESAR to support their cause. MMESAR deploys as First Responders in Disasters involving Animals. They provide lifesaving treatment for sick and injured animals. In addition to that, MMESAR hosts events to provide affordable healthcare services for animals in North Texas including community Microchipping to help lost pets be reunited with their families. Contributing to MMESAR’s cause will fund life saving Emergency Veterinary care, dog and cat food and other program related expenses. To make a global impact, Ighty Support contributed to UNICEF’s response to children in families in Pakistan. Recently, monsoon’s have caused one of the worst floods that Pakistan has ever experienced, washing away villages and leaving around 3.4 million children and families at increased risk of waterborne diseases, drowning and malnutrition. UNICEF is responding by delivering safe drinking water; lifesaving medical supplies, food supplies and hygiene kits to children and families. UNICEF also aims to establish temporary learning centers for the protection and psychosocial wellbeing of children affected by these devastating floods. To learn more or contribute, click here.
